In the amateur soccer final in Nuevo Laredo, Héctor Mancilla, a former player for teams like Tigres, Colo Colo, and Toluca, was involved in an altercation where he elbowed a rival.
It is common to see retired players from Liga MX shine in amateur tournaments after ending their professional careers, where they receive large sums for their participation. Mancilla, known for being a double champion with Toluca and a winner of a title with Tigres, was participating in an amateur soccer tournament.
In a controversial video that went viral on social media, Mancilla is seen involved in an altercation after receiving a foul from a rival defender. The situation escalated quickly, leading to a confrontation between both teams, culminating in the suspension of the former player for 6 months from the Real Liga de Futbol Ferrocarrilera 40 of Nuevo Laredo.
After a successful professional career that included titles and individual distinctions, Héctor Mancilla retired in 2017 to embark on a new role as a coach. He currently manages the Escorpiones team, after having coached Real Apodaca.
In the midst of the tense situation, Mancilla commented: "Amateur soccer has its intensity; sometimes things get out of control. I take responsibility for my actions and I will seek to continue contributing to the sport positively, both on the field and in my role as a coach."
